ResellOne Managed DNS ensures DNS availability, accuracy, and security through a stable, reliable infrastructure. You or your customers can update zone (A, CNAME, MX and subdomains) records and ensure they are applied to authoritative nameservers in minutes. Additional functionality includes; domain forwarding, URL framing, Under Construction and customizable Domain for Sale web pages, bulk zone change management, and more.

Managed DNS: Creating a User

ResellOne makes it simple to order Managed DNS through the ResellOne Reseller Web Interface (RWI). You may also choose to automate the ordering process using the ResellOne API.

From the Order Tab, the Reseller can create an order for a new user (customer) or add the service to an existing user's profile.

This demo assumes that you have already created a User Profile. The user's name is entered in the Create Order for User Name and DNS is selected from the Select Service Category drop down menu.

Managed DNS: Ordering Managed DNS – Domains

On this screen, select Managed DNS from the dropdown menu of service types.

In the Domain Names field, you can copy and paste a list of up to 20 zones for purchase. A description of the domain name makes it easy to track and manage the zone on an on-going basis.

The next step is to complete the DNS Management Availability fields.

Managed DNS: Ordering / Management Availability

This screen lists all the domains selected for service activation and checks that they are currently registered and available for DNS propagation.

In the Initial Zone Settings section, you can choose between Use Default Settings Provided (which you specified in the service setup process), Attempt to Retrieve Current Zone Info (where ResellOne will attempt to review the existing setting from the current DNS for the domain on the Internet), and Do Not Pre-Populate Zone Information (which will leave the zone information blank.)

The next step is to complete the Account Holder Contact Information interface, which is used for internal tracking purposes only.

Managed DNS: Ordering / Account Holder Information

On this screen the Reseller populates the contact details for the zones purchased. Once this data has been entered the you can click on the Submit Order for Processing button at the bottom of the page.

Once the button has been pressed an Order Completed Page will be presented and a customizable email will be sent to the account holder. From here the Reseller can go to the DNS tab and manage the current zone entries.

Managed DNS: Managing a Zone

The DNS Management tab in the Resellers Web Interface has two columns - Orders and Service Sold.

In the Services Sold column you will notice the Reseller Options category. This is where you can edit the global zone template and order settings for your profile. This includes two areas; Default Zone Setup and Default Zone Permissions.

Default Zone Setup includes fields for hostname A records, aliased C names, and mail exchanger MX records, as well as subdomain delegation.

Default Zone Permissions allow you to configure your service to allow for URL forwarding, template management, and/or zone management. An example of the interface follows.

Resellers are able to manage their zones under management, and setup forwarding and parking pages.

Managed DNS: Domain Forwarding and Parking

In order to access the domain forwarding and parking functionality, you will need to search the Services Sold ID and then view the details associated with the zone.

The functionality is located under the DNS Service Data title / Configuration label and provides links to Zone Management and Domain Forwarding. Clicking on the Domain Forwarding link will access this interface. You can then select the appropriate options such as Display Nothing, Domain for Sale, Domain Under Construction, and Domain Forwarding.

If you have enabled Allow Zone Management by End User Option then the end customer can edit these fields themselves through the Managed DNS zone public manage interface or through a local Reseller implemented RCL Zone Manage Interface.

Managed DNS: Public Manage Interface

From this screen in the Public Manage Interface, your customers can select the task type; Zone Management and Domain Forwarding.

The Zone Management screen allows customers to access to zone (A, CNAME, MX) records, perform subdomain delegation, and retrieve current zone data. There is also a button to Restore Current Default Zone Settings in event of an error.

The Domain Forwarding screen allows customers to edit the status of their domain and includes Display Nothing, Domain for Sale, and Domain Under Construction. Here they can also set domain forwarding.
